Pride Month 2025
Pride Month is celebrated every June to honour the LGBTQ+ community, commemorate the Stonewall Riots, and promote equal rights and acceptance. The library's display provides information about the history of legislation, the recent Trans Rights Ruling, the LGBT+ NHS staff experience and the pride flag.
Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week
This week was EDHR week, the library had a display to promote webinars, podcasts and resources available for staff for each of the topics from each day:
Stress Awareness Month 2025
April is Stress Awareness Month, a month to focus on your wellbeing and discover effective ways to manage stress. This year’s theme, #LeadWithLove, looks at treating ourselves and others with kindness, compassion, and acceptance.
The Library display covers some helpful tips to help staff with their stress, the stress bucket is a helpful tool to look at what causes our stress and ways to reduce it.
LGBT+ History Month 2025
This year’s theme for LGBT+ History Month is activism and social change, the display focuses on the five LGBT+ activists from history.
February is also Football v Homophobia Month of Action; the display also highlights this campaign, which exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels in football.

Movember and Men's Mental Health Awareness Month 2024
For November, Bevan Library has a display to support awareness of men's health issues, and promote Movember.
Movember is a yearly event which involves the growing of moustaches. People are encouraged to grow a moustache for the whole month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.
Black History Month 2024
October is Black History Month, Bevan Library displayed information about Black History month - and also promoted information about Sickle Cell.
Sickle Cell is an inherited condition. People with Sickle Cell disease do not make haemoglobin properly; their red blood cells are rigid and shaped like a crescent or sickle because the haemoglobin inside them clumps together. In the UK, is most commonly seen in people of African and Caribbean backgrounds.

To celebrate Pride Month Bevan Library has a display focusing on the history of the pride flag, and information on some inspirational LGBT figures in medicine.

The theme of ‘Saluting our Sisters’ highlights the crucial role that black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. This year’s celebration will showcase pioneering black women who have made remarkable contributions to literature, music, fashion, sport, business, politics, academia, social and health care, and more.
