OVID, PROQUEST, EBSCO and the Knowledge and Library Hub allow you to search multiple databases. A full list describing each database can be found below under Databases A-Z.

Searching: Health and Care Evidence

Knowledge and Library Hub searches CINAHL Ultimate, MEDLINE Ultimate and Psychology and Behavioural Sciences Collection, and has links to all the other search platforms.

PROQUEST searches MEDLINE, PTSDpubs and TOXLINE, as well as many other collections.

Ovid logo

OVID searches EMBASE, EMCARE, HMIC, MEDLINE, Social Policy and Practice, and Bedford Hospital NHS Trust Journals.

Dialog logo

DIALOG searches APA PsychInfo, Allied and Complimentary Medicine, British Nursing Index and MEDLINE.

BrowZine

BrowZine logoBrowZine brings together scholarly ejournals from multiple publishers and platforms and allows you to browse and read journals in your field of study and research.

It hosts the journals which are subscribed to nationally, and by the Trust, plus a large range of open access titles.

Databases A-Z

A summary of the information available from each database is listed below alphabetically:

Allied and Complimentary Medicine covers the fields of complementary or alternative medicine and allied health. Information is geared toward medical professionals and health practitioners and care-givers, as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

APA Psyc Info offers information covering applied, developmental, experimental and educational psychology, communication systems, personality, psychological and physical disorders, physiological psychology and neuroscience, professional personnel and issues, and psychometrics and statistics.

British Nursing Index is a leading database for support of practice, education, and research for nurses, midwives, and health providers in the UK or following UK practice.

Coronavirus Research‎ is a free health and medical research database for openly available content related to the COVID-19 outbreak

CINAHL Ultimate is the new definitive research tool for nursing and allied health professionals.

EMBASE is a biomedical and pharmacological database and is especially strong in its coverage of drug and pharmaceutical research, pharmacology, toxicology and medical devices.

EMCARE covers all nursing specialties and nursing healthcare professions: allied health, education and training, development and management, midwifery, health and healthcare economics, clinical medical and healthcare social work, psychiatry and mental health, and traumatology, emergency and critical-care medicine.

GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

Index to Legal Periodicals & Books provides complete coverage of the most important English language legal information, with international coverage of scholarly articles, symposia, jurisdictional surveys, court decisions, legislation, books, book reviews and more.

Health Research Premium Collection offers a central access point to a variety of essential medical content, including: Consumer Health Database, Health & Medical Collection, Healthcare Administration Database, Psychology Database and Public Health Database.

Health Management Information Consortium (HMIC) contains information relating to health and social care management, and information to develop and improve the management of health and social care services.

Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts indexes journals, books, research reports and proceedings covering librarianship, classification, catalouging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more.

MEDLINE Ultimate covers the whole field of medicine including dentistry, veterinary medicine, and medical psychology. Clinical and preclinical medicine, anatomy, pharmacology, toxicology, genetics, microbiology, pathology, environmental health, occupational medicine, psychology, biomedical technology, health planning and administration and space life science.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection provides access to more than 530 full-text psychology journals, and has particularly strong coverage in child & adolescent psychology and various areas of counselling.

PTSDpubs provides citations and abstracts to the worldwide literature on PTSD and other psychological effects of trauma.

TOXLINE covers literature in all areas of toxicology, including chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pesticides, environmental pollutants and mutagens and teratogens.

Social Policy and Practice provides evidence-based social science research for policy-makers, practitioners, educators and students working within economic and social development, social administration, social services, and care management.

Your searches can be saved and searched again, at a later date, to keep you up to date on your topic of interest.
