Our Mission

To advance healthcare through optimal use of information technologies, resources, and the professional expertise of qualified library information staff in supporting a sustainable NHS in Hertfordshire by delivering efficient, value for money services and to support organisational decision making through the media of evidence and Knowledge.

 

 

Our Aim

To make everyone welcome and meet your information and training needs with courtesy and efficiency.

Membership

We provide library services to staff and students on placement at Lister, Queen Elizabeth II, Hertford County Hospitals and Mount Vernon Cancer Services.

 Membership is available to:

  • East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust staff and students on placements
  • Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust staff
  • Staff of other NHS organisations in our catchment area
  • General practitioners
  • Social care workers
  • UK Health Security Agency staff
  • Hospice staff

Our Promise to You

  • We will put the needs of our clients (actual and potential) at the heart of what we do
  • We will provide equality of access to our resources by ensuring our approach is both multi-professional and multi-disciplinary
  • We will provide and promote an up-to-date range of resources (virtual and actual) (within budgetary constraints)
  • We will provide a range of services and training to suit your needs
  • We will provide trained library staff to assist you
  • We will provide a response to your request or enquiry within 24 hours if we can or will keep you informed of progress
  • We will provide a place conducive to study 
  • We will provide networked computers for training, work, study and e-learning purposes
  • Where possible we will provide 24 Hour Access to study space and computers
  • We will promote access to all relevant websites and online resources

In return we will expect you to

  • Treat all the library staff and other library users with respect
  • Treat all the library resources and equipment with respect
  • Abide by the terms and conditions set out in your membership application
  • Notify us of any changes to your membership details
  • Comply with Trust IT policies
  • Comply with copyright legislation and licensing regulations
  • Provide us with as much information as possible so that we can supply the information that you require as soon as possible
  • Return or renew you books promptly
