NHS OpenAthens - click on the logo to self-register.
What is it? - It provides you with a username and password so you can
Why do I need it? - if you don't login with NHS OpenAthens you will only have access to the resources on NHS websites that are in the public domain. As most healthcare library resources are electronic, there is so much more available to you when you login.
I've got one from my university, do I need to register for one with the NHS?
A university OpenAthens or Shiboleth login will give students access to the resources that their university has purchased for its students to use.
If you are studying at university as well as working, or are on placement, in an NHS Organisation, you will be able to register for NHS OpenAthens as well. This will give you access to the resources that the NHS has purchased for its staff and students.
While you remain employed with the NHS you will continue to be able to use these resources. You won't continue to have access to your university's resources once you have completed your course.
I can't login - If you have forgotten your login details call us or e-mail. If you haven't used your NHS OpenAthens for a while you may have to register again online.
I've just started working here do I need to transfer my NHS OpenAthens? - yes. You can do this yourself or contact us and we'll sort it out for you.
